The speed of biased random walk on percolation clusters
We consider biased random walk on supercritical percolation clusters in Z. We show that the random walk is transient and that there are two speed regimes: If the bias is large enough, the random walk has speed zero, while if the bias is small enough, the speed of the random walk is positive.
متن کاملErosion by a one-dimensional random walk.
We consider a model introduced by Baker et al. [Phys. Rev. E 88, 042113 (2013)] of a single lattice random walker moving on a domain of allowed sites, surrounded by blocked sites. The walker enlarges the allowed domain by eroding the boundary at its random encounters with blocked boundary sites: attempts to step onto blocked sites succeed with a given probability and convert these sites to allo...
متن کاملTail estimates for one-dimensional random walk in random environment
Suppose that the integers are assigned i.i.d. random variables f! x g (taking values in the unit interval), which serve as an environment. This environment deenes a random walk fX k g (called a RWRE) which, when at x, moves one step to the right with probability ! x , and one step to the left with probability 1 ? ! x. Solomon (1975) determined the almost-sure asymptotic speed (=rate of escape) ...
متن کاملA Biased Random Walk Model for Two Choice Reaction Times
This paper generalizes Stone’s (1960, Psychometrika 25, 251-260) random walk model of two choice response times (RTs) that is based on the sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) and that predicts equal correct and incorrect RTs to the same response. The generalized version allows a bias of the type found in signal detection theory to enter directly into the accumulation process so that ambiva...
متن کاملOn the speed of biased random walk in translation invariant percolation
For biased random walk on the infinite cluster in supercritical i.i.d. percolation on Z, where the bias of the walk is quantified by a parameter β > 1, it has been conjectured (and partly proved) that there exists a critical value βc > 1 such that the walk has positive speed when β < βc and speed zero when β > βc. In this paper, biased random walk on the infinite cluster of a certain translatio...
